Today I Wrote: November 4, 2014

Pages from a BRAND NEW PLAY about the First Man and the Last Man and also sort of space and sea travel. This is a little monologue from The First Woman.

WOMAN
Once, a bird gave me a nut. It flew from the sky and landed at my feet with a nut in its mouth and gave it to me. And I thanked the bird and it flew away. And I have held onto that nut since I was young. I don’t know what it is for but it is from heaven. I hold onto it and hold onto it and sometimes at night by the fire I just set it very very close to my eyes so it’s the only thing I can see. I can’t even see my man or my babies. I just look at the nut. It is brown and smooth and shiny near the fire. I love it.
